Word of the Day: Genesis 16, 17 Matthew 5:27-48

Word of the Day

Genesis 16, 17 Matthew 5:27-48

It is so easy to read and wonder what were people thinking. God had just promised Abram a child and that he would be blessed and be the father of many. Then we see how Abram an Sarai take matters into their own hands. Then I reflect back and see how I take matters into my own hands without even praying. I forget the promise just as quick as Abram did. Once again we see God's amazing grace. God establish a covenant with Abraham and gives specific instructions to be followed. In the last part of Matthew 5 we continue with the sermon on the mount. The message continues to be totally different then what the people are use to hearing. Just as God keeps His commitment we are to do the same. Let our yes be yes and our no be no. How easy is it to love those we like. It is a fight not to surround myself with people I like to be with. This love is a super natural love I can not do on my own. As I find myself in these situations I see how evil my heart truly is. Yet we are called to be perfect.

Lord I love myself way to much and pray that You will help me to love people the way You have loved us. Lord I know at times I forget Your promises. Please Lord forgive me. Help me to have my yes be yes and my no be no. Most of all Lord help me to call upon You in everything I do before I make any decision.
