Word of the Day: 1 Chronicles 28:3
"But God said to me, 'You are not to build a house for my Name, because you are a warrior and have shed blood."
1 Chronicles 28:3
David was very anxious to build a dwelling place for the Lord. In Ps 132 he prays for blessing upon the building and shows his excitement in vs. 4, "I will allow no sleep to my eyes, no slumber to my eyelids, till I find a place for the LORD…" It must have come as a disappointment when the Lord told him, no, it won't be you who builds it, but rather your son Solomon. I appreciate David's heart and the way he reacted. Instead of showing any letdown or discontent for not being able to complete his plans, he encouraged his son in I Chron 9 & 10 "As for you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve Him with a whole heart and a willing mind ….. Consider now, for the LORD has chosen you to build a house for the sanctuary; be courageous and act."
Lord, please cause my heart to be pleasing to You even when things don't go the way I had planned. Thank You that I can always trust You.
