Desperate for Prayer

Updated Blog2

“Ever since I came to Pharaoh to speak in Your Name, he has done harm to this people and you have not delivered at all.”  (Ex 5:23)

This is a prayer of a man who is desperate to pray.  As you know God sent Moses on a mission to free the Israelites from Pharaoh’s grip.  God told Moses “…I will send you to Pharaoh, so that you may bring My people, the sons of Israel out of Egypt.”  (Ex 3:11)  When the Israelites began to bitterly complain against Moses, they told him “…may the Lord look upon you and judge you…” (Ex 5:21) which led Moses to discouragement.

I like this quote about the discouragement that Moses experienced:

“Moses was discouraged because he was too impressed by Pharaoh and not

impressed enough by God.”

Have you ever been in the place where you were certain God had shown you to do something, but as things developed it sure didn’t go as you had envisioned?  When we are desperate for prayer, like Moses, we take our eyes off of ourselves and our circumstances, and focus on Him.

God’s response to Moses' desperate prayer is found in 6:1 “Now you shall see what I will do…” The LORD reminded Moses that He (Yahweh) would absolutely fulfill His promise to Moses. And He did exactly that!!

Where are you?  Are you more impressed by your trying circumstances and not impressed enough with God?

May you and I have a heart that is desperate for prayer all the time, regardless of our circumstances, and may we have a heart which looks only to the “I AM.”
