Word of the Day

“It’s better to live alone in the desert than with a nagging wife.” Proverbs 21:19

Guys, if you’re like me, I automatically associate nagging as a “quality” related only to the wife. However, some of the definitions in the dictionary define nagging as “continual scolding, fault finding or complaining” and the dictionary does not exclusively mention it as a female characteristic. So then, how can we as husbands understand what nagging is? Well take for example your wife does not keep house up to “your standards.” What is our first reaction? We start complaining and we find fault. Peter says in I Peter 3:7 “…live with your wives in an understanding way…” My question is, are we men who nag or do you understand?

Father, please move my heart to make me more sensitive to the needs, fears and feelings of my wife. Help me learn to live with her in an understanding way.

Ladies, if you are like me, when I come across these verses, and yes there is more, Proverbs 19:13 and 27:15 to name a couple, I’m always convicted. In fact in my Bible I have noted by the verse a prayer and comment, “Lord help me!” and “Diana, DON’T DO IT!!” My husband has enough pressure and stress I don’t want him to associate our home with the same. Some very godly women gave me some great advice. It’s not wrong to mention my need or desire to my husband once, or maybe even twice, in fact, it’s good to communicate with our husbands. But, the third time, it’s nagging. That’s when I need to go directly to the Lord, pray and give Him my expectation. I can trust Him. He is faithful!! We aren’t the ones who change our husbands, that’s God’s job. I’m so glad!! Proverbs 18:22 is my desire “He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord.” LORD, HELP ME! J

Lord, thank you for your Word. Thank you that it guides me, reminds me and teaches me to be the wife You want me to be. Lord, give me the wisdom and strength to obey You completely. I Love You Lord!!

Dedicated to Prayer,

Dave and Diana
