What Does God Really Enjoy?

Word of the Day

It's actually kind of weird to think about God enjoying anything in the way that we understand it. I enjoy watching a good football game, eating really good food, and spending time with my wife(I should score points for this). However, when I think about it nothing gives me more joy than seeing my kids run up to me and say "Daddy", when they do something they know I want them to do without asking, or when they respect their mother. Come to find out, this is what God really enjoys too. This morning I read this:

Psalm 145:10,11
"His delight is not in the strength of the horse,
nor His pleasure in the legs of a man,
but the LORD takes pleasure in those who fear him,
in those who hope in his steadfast love."

Apparently, God really gets excited when we fear him (He likes it more than horses and legs). He seems to enjoy when we consider His ways above everything else. He smiles when we love others because we love Him. It seems that learning to fear him is vitally important. How do we do this? If you even slightly pay attention to Skip you know his (Larry's) definition of the fear of the Lord. It is "a healthy dread of displeasing God" or "caring more about what God thinks than anyone else." I think these are right on. However, what is pretty cool about God is how He will answer our questions or tell us what He wants in His Word. I (like any good Christian) read the Proverbs of the day. I read this in Chapter 2 today right after reading Psalm.

My son, if you receive my words and treasure up my commandments with you, making your ear attentive to wisdom and inclining your heart to understanding; yes, if you call out for insight and raise your voice wfor understanding, if you seek it like silver and search for it as for yhidden treasures, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. (1-4)

I think it is good to understand a definition of the fear of the Lord. According to Proverbs
though, it's really important we simply ask God with a sincere heart to teach us what it means and then seek Him for the answer like crazy. Now, I can't figure out why the spacing went weird on this blog, so I'll just leave it at that.
