All Things New! Revelation 21:5

It's now upon us...a brand new year! It's very strange, in a mysterious kind of way, how we tend to gravitate to the newest, the latest, & the greatest in some form or fashion. Technology has that mysterious draw on me and that monster was fed to the full this year.

First, our kids gave me a pen for Christmas that as your writing it sends whatever your writing to an electronic form on a computer, tablet, phone, etc. No more paper filing and then trying to find the file when you need it...all electronically organized and searchable. Second, some incredibly generous person gorged the "new technology" monster by leaving an amazing example of the latest and greatest on my desk at work just before Christmas. I tried hard to find out who did it but the only shred of evidence was a small typed written note that said "You are loved." Needless to say, I felt humbled and as excited as a little kid's first Christmas.

Then it hit me...am I that excited about Jesus? Do I look forward to spending time with Him as a little one does for opening presents on Christmas? Do I reschedule my day trying to fit in more time to become familiar with Him as I do these new toys? Is Jesus still the latest and greatest reality of my life?

As followers of Jesus, one of His most amazing promises is that He wants to make all things new every day. Not just brick phones to iPhones but infinitely more priceless. He wants to bring reconciliation to wounded relationships; healing to physical infirmities; wholeness to broken hearts; contentment in loss; calm in the storm; joy in the midst of pain. What a Savior!
