Written By the Finger of God... Again

Armor of God

Often times I become impatient with my kids. Phrases like, "how many times to I have to tell you..." are very common around our house. Being patient with my kids is frequently something that I pray for. Then I read this verse:

The Lord said to Moses, “Cut for yourself two tablets of stone like the first, and I will write on the tablets the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke. Be ready by the morning, and come up in the morning to Mount Sinai, and present yourself there to me on
the top of the mountain.
Exodus 34:1-2

I am so amazed at the patience of the Lord. I put myself in Moses' shoes and try to contemplate the humility he must have felt to have God write out a 2nd set of stone tablets. Then the Lord passed in front of Moses saying "The Lord, The Lord, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness." I cant imagine how thankful Moses must have been in the patience of the Lord. And not only did the Lord tell him about his patience, but he showed him by writing out a 2nd set of commandments.

Father, thank you for your patience. Thank you that you are willing to tell me a 2nd... 3rd... 4th... 5th... xth time when I repeatedly mess up and need to be reminded. Cause me to cherish your words as if you have written them directly to me with your very finger!
