Word of the Day: Psalm 42
Reading: Psalm 42
'My Soul Thirsts'
"As the deer pants for the water brooks, so my soul pants for You, O God.
My soul thirsts for God, for the living God...." Psalms 42:1-2
We have all heard it said, "A picture is worth a thousand words". The Psalmist gives us a beautiful vignette into his life. Here he uses a deer to draw us into the deepest part of his being. The creature on the run, possibly being hunted; now longing for a drink from the cool waters of the brook. David finds himself far away from home longing for his soul to be quenched, not from the waters of the brook, but from living waters that God provides for those who thirst for Him.
There is nothing like that place in God where only He refreshes my soul.
Lord let me never be satisfied with things that cannot quench my thirst for You.
