Word of the Day: Psalm 23:1

Word of the Day

Psalm 23:1

The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want.

If the Lord is my shepherd, I must be a sheep. That means I am dumb, dirty, timid, helpless and defenseless ... at minimum. Isaiah 53:6 says, "All of us like sheep have gone astray; each of us has turned to his own way'. So, I am also a self-indulgent individualist.

I really do need a shepherd. Jesus said, "I am the good shepherd, and I know My own and My own know Me". (John 10:14). What a blessing it is to know that I have a shepherd/ sheep relationship with Jesus.

As my shepherd, Jesus says, "I am the bread of life, he who comes to Me will not hunger, and he who believes in Me will never thirst" (John 6:35) Jesus is my provider. Further, Paul wrote, "As the outward perishes the inward is renewed" (2 Corinthians 4:15). He also restores my soul.

What more could I want. As a sheep, I'll follow my shepherd. What a comfort to know that I can follow Him.

Blessings,

Tony
