Word of the Day: Psalm 12:1

Word of the Day

Psalm 12:1

Help, O LORD, for the Godly man ceases to be, for the faithful disappear from among the sons of men.

Endangered Species

There once was a large, clumsy bird called the dodo that had a problem. It couldn't fly. This probably led to it's extinction. Now all that's left is the expression, "As dead as the dodo." Before I became a follower of Jesus, I, too, was as dead as a dodo.

David, from where he was standing, was beginning to wonder what was happening to the faithful. The trends were all in the wrong direction. In verse 2, he emphasizes lying, "they speak falsehood to one another". He grieved because he knew that lying meant that the people thought truth was irrelevant. David certainly knew that lying is usually an attempt to gain an advantage or to escape repercussions of wrongdoing.

God, I know your Word is truth and Jesus is the truth (John 14:6). Help me live out your truth by sharing it with the world (the dead dodos) around me.

Blessings,
Tony
