Word of the Day

Reading: Luke 17:11-19

"Giving Glory to God"

"And as they were going, they were cleansed. Now one of them, when he saw that he had been healed, turned back, glorifying God with a loud voice, and he fell on his face at His feet, giving thanks to Him. And he was a Samaritan."

If we allow ourselves to reflect at our condition before Christ came into our lives, we were just like those men, unclean and miserable. In this story we see ten leprous men. Jesus, having mercy on them, told them all to go show themselves to the priests, and as they went they were cleansed! Years of pain, suffering, and rejection. I'm sure they all had one thing in mind. Quickly go show ourselves to the priests and return home to our former lives. Who can even imagine what was in their minds? But one, seeing the leprosy vanishes, with excitement and joy, stops, turns, and loudly proclaims glory to God and falls down before Jesus, with a heart bursting with thanksgiving. Jesus spoke. "Stand up and go; your faith has made you well." This leper was not only cleansed, but I believe he received his 'spiritual' sight that day. He now knew the One who made him whole.

My Lord and my God, may I always turn back

To give you thanks for all things you have done.
