Word of the Day

Deuteronomy 33:27

"The Eternal God is a dwelling place...."

Moses gives his blessing to the sons of Israel in this chapter. His time is coming to an end. God has told Moses he won't be going in to the Promised Land, but does let him see it (Deuteronomy 34:4 "This is the land which I swore to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, saying, 'I will give it to your descendants'; I have let you see it with your eyes). This was the land that God chose Moses to lead the people to, however, in the end it was from a distance. Wouldn't this have been a great time for Moses to say to God, "But it wasn't my fault" or "the people made me do it" or "I don't deserve to be in a position like this" or" How come it always happens to me?" Instead there is no complaining about it, but rather he told the people that God "is a dwelling place." That is to say, God is our refuge and He is always there. No matter what circumstances we are experiencing, we can take complete refuge in Him.

Moses' example is a powerful one to me because in spite of not being able to do what he would have liked to have done, by seeing the Promised Land, he reminds me that God is my Refuge. There is none like the God of Jeshurun (the upright one), who rides the heavens to your help and through the skies in His majesty Deuteronomy 33:26.

Lord I worship You and give You all praise for being a "dwelling place" to all who follow You.
