Will You Stand Strong?

Armor of God

The thought of facing an enemy who is willing to die (right or wrong) can certainly give you pause of how willing you are to face them in battle. Ask yourself what you would do when facing an enemy that won’t quit in that endeavor creating that struggle (Eph 6:11 – “struggle” severe opposition). When you feel your world crashing down, when what seemed certain is now at best “doubt” – when a family member is taken, when a spouse leaves, or a job or home is lost…how will you respond? If you are asked to denounce Jesus what would you do, what would you say? How will you respond?

The Book of Daniel tells us of three Hebrew boys who are taken captive and put through a process of cultural reorientation. We only know of their names because possibly they are the only ones who stood strong in their faith for the LORD. When facing death maybe many of their friend felt that the only answer was to “Compromise man, do it, just do it!” They were in a part of the world that today Christians face the potential same treatment….modern day Iraq. They; however, refused to eat the Kings Meat, refused to drink the Kings Wine used as dedications to idols and gods of pagan religions. They refused…

[16] Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered and said to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. [17] If this be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace (Isaiah 43:2 – “when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you”), and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king. [18] But if not, (what a powerful statement of faith – even if He doesn’t…our Father is still sovereign) be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up.” (Daniel 3:16-18 ESV)

What an amazing account of a willingness to represent our King, what a powerful picture of standing for their faith – their God, our God, the one true God!

Father –
I pray that your body would boldly stand firm for You Father! That our belief would be stronger in our time of need, that even a brush of your robe as we are at your feet would fill us with your Spirit that we would stand firm and fulfill your Great Commission…
In the precious name of Jesus Christ I pray…Amen
