Tell Them Today

Walk with Jesus

I found out today that an acquaintance from work took his own life last night. He was in his early fifties and the few times I had worked with him he seemed "happy" and "normal". He is one of probably 5-6 firefighters this past year that have committed suicide. I did not know him well or any of the others, but from what I did know is that it was completely unexpected from those that knew him well.

It is strange because in my profession we see death, it is actually part of the job, but it seems like it takes something like this (involving one of our own) to really stop and think about things that truly matter. I do not know where this man was spiritually but hopefully those he left behind will come to know the the truth of Christ.

For those reading, including myself, my prayer is that we would use this to remember the mission and that we would focus on people as the Lord sees them, saved or lost. No matter the front or appearance that people put forth, I pray that I would boldly proclaim Him today. I put the Romans road below and pray that today would be the day that we share it with that co-worker, neighbor, gym buddy, or whoever we have in our life that we just have not had the opportunity to engage in a conversation about spiritual things.

One thing I have done with my friends and co-workers in the past is ask them if they have read any good books lately. After answering they usually reciprocate and ask me the same--so why not use this blog as the jumping off point to talk about Christ? What have we got to lose?

Romans 3:23 for fall have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 5:8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 10:9 because, if myou confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart othat God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.
