Perfect Peace

Word of the Day

My Uncle started writing just as a mass way of keeping those close to him informed of how he was doing but quickly began to realize it was an opportunity for the Gospel. Most of his extended family including his brother, sister, and parents are all not followers of Christ and when he sits down and talks about Spiritual things with them they would quickly change the subject or even leave the room, but now they were all reading. The following was written about 10 days after he lost his wife, Connie.

Church was awesome yesterday. The worship was so moving. It always helps when the person behind you can really sing. Makes it like a surround sound. There is nothing like wholehearted singing. One day my singing will sound like that, besides just in my shower. Songs said things like oh I run to You, and I fix my eyes. That is so key for all of us in this life. Someone shared Psalm 91:1 yesterday and it is so fitting. Abiding in the shadow of His wings. That means hanging out there remaining. Not just a casual visit. We are under the care of a God who adores us. Kent spoke on Malachi 3:16-18. God favors us by listening to us- in other places He turns His head toward us. He remembers us and puts us in the book of life- He really knows us. Lastly treasures us- God truly values us. Why would I not love having Connie with Him now? At the same time He is lifting me above this whole circumstance.

I am a little concerned that I am just being a typical guy and blocking it out as I live in my nothing box, and all of a sudden reality will kick in all at once. I should be pulling what little hair I have left out and wailing. But then I realize that as I turn to Him and hide in His shadow He comforts me. So I can cry, but not be overwhelmed. I have always given people dealing with their loses Isa 26:3- why should I not give it to myself? "You keep him in perfect peace who's mind is stayed on Thee, because He trusts in Thee". So no it is not weird to feel His perfect peace in this shocking event. He promises to do it. He wants to do it for me. He favors me. Psalm 119:165 says "those who love Thy law have great peace and nothing causes them to stumble". So as I am seeking His shadow and trusting in His Word I am experiencing His perfect and great peace. Your prayers are keeping me there. Today I am back to work full time. Love you tons.
