His Presence

Word of the Day

Over the last few days, things around us at home have been falling apart causing me to invest more of my time. Leaky toilets, broken water heaters, you name it. How quickly a few frustrating trials can sneak in and try to hide God's presence in our lives and each daily moment. Of course it is our own sin which hides His spirit when we try to "handle the situation" without first praying for guidance and his peace! Early this morning I was messing with the water heater and my wife read to me from a passage in "Jesus Calling" by Sarah Young. It said "Because the world is in a fallen condition, things always seem to be unraveling around the edges. Expect to find trouble in this day. At the same time, trust that My way is perfect, even in the midst of such messy imperfection".

Psalm 18:30 "As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the Lord is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in Him".

Many times when I read about "taking refuge" I think about major traumatic events such as a major injury, death in the family, or something of that nature. How easily I forget that we can take refuge in Him in ALL our trials, even the small ones. When we learn to flinch to Him moment by moment during our day, we will enjoy the blessing of His presence in us and His best for us. Suddenly the leaky toilet and broken water heater are tiny pebbles next to His perfect shield!
