Behaving Like the Citizens of Heaven

Word of the Day

Philippians 1:27

Only let your manner of life be worth of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel.

Paul reminds us how important it is to live our daily lives living for Christ. We should be behaving like the citizens of heaven. "Am I conducting myself in a manner worthy of the gospel?" is a good question to ask ourselves regularly.

Ephesians 4:1
I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

Those around me, be they students, co-workers, or my friends at a baseball game should always be able to see the love of Christ in my daily life. I must remember that the world around me knows only the gospel that is seen in my life.

A pastor, when asked for some literature to give some neighbors who believe a false gospel opened his Bible to 2 Corinthians 3:2 "You yourselves are our letter of recommendation, written on our hearts, to be know and read by all."

You are writing a gospel,
A chapter each day,
By the deeds that you do
And the words that you say.
Men read what you write,
Whether faithful or true:
Just what is the gospel
According to You?
