Amazing Grace

stayConnected

Yesterday in church, I was amazed anew at God’s amazing Grace, first during Communion, and then during the service. The idea that Grace often comes most when we deserve it the least always amazes me. But the idea that it cannot be deserved is nearly incomprehensible to me. (Rom 11:6) Truly, we have a God that defies understanding, and yet He asks us to understand Him. (1 John 5:20)

So, I went to www.biblegateway.com and searched for Grace. One of the first entries was in Psalm 45. This is a psalm written for the wedding of Solomon to Pharaoh’s daughter, but it’s really about Christ’s impending marriage to the Church. Further searching about Psalm 45 led me to Charles Spurgeon’s “The Treasury of David”, where Mr. Spurgeon explains, verse by verse, the psalm.

Without going to great lengths, let me say that Psalm 45 as risen to the top of my favorite psalms, and I plan to download “The Treasury of David” to my iPad, as soon as I determine which version is right for me (original or updated). For you, the reader, when you have time, please read Psalm 45, while considering Christ and His church.

Dear God, thank you for making me a part of the Bride of Christ, thank you for the Grace that I do not deserve, which wraps me in the righteousness of Christ. Help me to live my life with the constant knowledge of Your grace. Amen.
